The best sofa bed for a small apartment combines a compact footprint, a full- or queen-size sleep surface, and a wall-hugger mechanism that opens without pulling away from the wall. Spaze's top pick for this use case is the Alure (64" wide) — it converts to a queen-size bed while staying flush to the wall, which is critical when floor space is tight. For very small spaces, the Napa is a full-size sofa bed that also works as a 3-in-1: sofa, lounger, and bed in one, making it one of the most versatile options in the Spaze collection. For the most sleep-ready option, the Aspen features a built-in 3.9" high-density foam mattress and a wall-hugger design. Start by measuring your door clearance and the floor space when the bed is fully open — those two numbers will determine your best fit.
Sofa beds are designed primarily as seating that converts for guests, not as a replacement for a dedicated bed. That said, construction quality makes a significant difference if you need a piece that pulls double duty more regularly. At Spaze, wood-frame models like the Alure, Bamton, Blaine, and Bergen are built for more frequent use. For the most sleep-ready option in the collection, the Aspen comes with a built-in 3.9" high-density foam mattress, the closest thing to a true mattress experience in a sofa bed format. Keep in mind that the more frequently any sofa bed is used as a bed, the faster the foam and mechanism will wear; adding a quality mattress topper helps extend the life of any model. If you're sleeping on it most nights, a dedicated bed will outlast and outperform a sofa bed in the long run.
Both 2-seat and 3-seat Spaze sofa beds are available with a Queen-size sleeping surface. Some of the most popular include the Alure and Oslo from the 2-seat collection, as well as 3-seat options like the Duncan. How the bed opens varies by model — some extend forward into the room, others open horizontally. Spaze's Sofa Bed Fit Guide lists every model's dimensions, door clearance requirements, and sleep surface size in one place so you can confirm fit before ordering.
Sleeping comfort is the number one concern we hear before customers buy, and it's a fair one. At Spaze, comfort depends on the mattress construction and how often the bed is used. For occasional guests (a few nights a month or less), all Spaze wood-frame models deliver a comfortably firm sleep surface built with high-density foam — the Alure, Bamton, Blaine, Noble, Duncan, Cenna, Luna, Marline, and Bergen. For guests who stay multiple nights or prefer a softer, more mattress-like feel, the Breda and Berlin feature pocket spring cushions for added pressure relief. For the most premium sleeping experience, the Aspen includes a built-in 3.9" high-density foam mattress. We recommend pairing with a 2” memory foam topper for longer stays or guests with back sensitivities. Spaze's metal-frame 3-in-1 models — Napa, Oslo, Coda, Jenner, Alna, and Ardina — are best suited for occasional overnight guests rather than extended stays, but work great with a memory foam topper added.
A wall-hugger sofa bed uses a mechanism that folds the bed forward and outward, rather than pulling the sofa away from the wall. This means you can position the sofa flush against a wall or close to furniture and still convert it to a bed without rearranging the room. In a small apartment where every inch of floor space matters, this is a critical functional distinction. Some sofa beds require 12"–18" of clearance behind them to operate. Spaze's wall-hugger models require no rear clearance at all — making them the right choice if your sofa sits in a corner, against a wall, or in a home office with limited open floor.
Sofa bed and sleeper sofa refer to the same product category, both describe a piece of furniture that functions as a sofa during the day and converts into a sleeping surface at night. The terms are used interchangeably in the US market. Within this category, there are several conversion styles: fold-down mechanisms (sometimes called click-clack, where the backrest reclines through a simple clicking motion to create a flat sleep surface), and pull-out mechanisms (where the seat unfolds vertically outward or horizontally into a bed). Spaze offers models across all of these styles, so the right choice depends on your space and how you plan to use it.
Yes, with the right model. Sofa beds in rental properties need to handle higher-frequency use from a range of guests, which means frame durability and mechanism reliability matter more than they do in a personal home. Spaze's top choices for Airbnb and vacation rental hosts feature solid wood frames, fold-out mechanisms, and removable dry-cleanable covers that simplify turnover. If you're limited on space, the Alure is Spaze's best-selling model and has strong reviews from hosts. For larger spaces, the Blaine or Cenna are great options to consider. For listings where a home office doubles as a sleeping space, the Oslo and Ardina offer a professional daytime look that converts cleanly for overnight stays. All new Spaze models ship with a limited 3-year warranty.
All Spaze sofa beds are designed to fit through standard US doorways. A standard interior apartment door is 32" wide, but many buildings have doors as narrow as 26"–30", so it's worth measuring before you order. The key measurement is comparing your door width to the height of the delivery box, as long as your clearance is larger than the box height, it will likely fit. If the space is too tight, many Spaze models can be unboxed and brought in as separate components. Spaze's Sofa Bed Fit Guide includes a door clearance column for every model, and our team is always happy to help clarify fit before you buy.
A sofa bed is one of the best solutions for a home office that occasionally needs to serve as a guest room, and Spaze offers several models designed with exactly this use case in mind. The key is choosing a model that reads as stylish, comfortable seating during the day, not a bed in disguise. The Alure (64" wide) and Bamton (60" wide) are top picks here: both have a clean, modern profile that works well against an office wall and convert to a near Queen-size sleep surface when a guest arrives. For tighter offices, the Napa is a great option, its 3-in-1 design functions as a sofa, lounger, and double bed in one compact footprint. For a more premium guest experience, the Breda is a newer Spaze wall-hugger model with a Queen-size sleep surface and pocket spring cushions for a more mattress-like feel, folding out at floor level for one of the most comfortable overnight experiences in the collection.
Many Spaze sofa bed covers are removable and dry-cleanable, one of the most important practical features in any furniture piece used for both seating and sleeping. For models without removable covers, spot cleaning with a damp cloth and mild upholstery cleaner works well on all Spaze fabric models. Regular vacuuming with an upholstery attachment also helps keep the fabric fresh and free of dust between deeper cleans.

Yes, Spaze offers a 3-year manufacturer’s limited warranty. This warranty covers the frame and mechanism for 3 years, and the fabric and foam for 1 year. It only applies to residential use and normal use conditions. For example, if your sofa bed arrives in less-than-perfect quality, you will qualify for warranty coverage.
On the other hand, the warranty does not cover damage caused by misuse, excessive wear and tear, or improper use. Damage caused by jumping on your sofa bed, for example, will not be covered.
